New Punjab Coaches Ltd takes the safeguarding of children and young people extremely seriously. We believe it is never acceptable for a child or young person to experience abuse of any kind, and we recognise our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of every child who travels with us.

We recognise that

• The welfare of the child or young person is paramount.
• All children — regardless of age, ability, gender, racial heritage, religious belief, sexual orientation or identity — have an equal right to protection from harm and abuse.
• Working in partnership with children, parents, carers and other agencies is essential to promoting young people's welfare.

We safeguard children by

• Valuing, listening to and respecting them.
• Adopting child-protection guidelines through clear procedures and a code of conduct for staff.
• Sharing information about safeguarding and good practice with children, parents and staff.
• Sharing concerns with the agencies who need to know, involving parents and children appropriately.
• Recruiting safely — every driver holds a current Enhanced DBS check — and preventing the deployment of unsuitable individuals.
• Keeping confidential, accurate records of any safeguarding concern, securely stored.

Responsibilities

Every member of staff has a responsibility to safeguard children and a duty to report concerns wherever they arise. All staff must read and sign our full safeguarding policy, which sets out roles and responsibilities, how to record and escalate concerns, the levels of safeguarding risk, and our whistleblowing procedures.

This policy is reviewed every two years, or sooner in response to changes in legislation or guidance.
